News: Why didn’t anyone tell us that former Rainer Maria lead Caithlin De Marrais was pregnant?
So, here we were, perusing the latest issue of New York, reading their always-excellent "Reasons To Love New York" collection, when we come across the heading "Because Our Pregnant Women Kick Ass" when we catch a glimpse of the now-pregnant Caithlin De Marrais (she's apparently due in January). And it's like, uh, what? That is just crazy. Excellent and we're super excited for her and her soon-to-be heir, yes, but, like, whoa. Cannot believe that the singer/bassist for one of the best Midwest emo threesomes that we've ever had the opportunity to see/hear/experience is knocked up.
First, the band breaks up. Then both Caithlin and guitarist Kyle Fischer release solo records (Fischer had done that while Rainer Maria was still alive). [Ed. note: we got an email telling us that, of course, we'd forgotten to update the status of drummer William Kuehn and it turns out that he's now the touring stickman for The Teenagers.] And now De Marrais is having a kid.
So, the only thing left is to say that, well, er, can you three please come to our three-year anniversary party (coming in a few weeks) and maybe, like, bring your instruments and, oh we don't know, play "Tinfoil", "Atlantic" and "Catastrophe"?
