Emerging: Muchuu

The brother-and-sister duo of Muchuu hail from the UK and make some of the best dreamy pop music we've heard in the latter half of 2009. It's ethereal and searching yet unabashedly fun and emotional. Soft and shadowed, tunes like "Adventure We Go" and "Somebody Tell Me" haunt and flaunt with pop inflections and bouncy in one hand and drowsy in the other, with a young heart and a spark of wonder. Milky and George, the singers/instrumentalists that make up Muchuu (pronounced "moo-chew") hark towards Bat For Lashes or Noah's Ark-era CocoRosie with sort-of-Auto-Tune'd elements and pricks yet the duo remain entirely unto themselves–with a calling card that may be reminiscent of others yet isn't entirely here nor there but it deserves to be on the topographical landscape map of pop music.
