News: Priors’ new single “What You Need” gets rad remix package

Feb 5, 2010

Parisian praises of the 80s in song form are nothing new in the world of synthy electronic rock, pop or dance music, but the last half-decade had really seen a huge rise in actual talent. Priors, a duo of musicians who share an almost-life-long musical pedigree, joined those ranks some time ago, and today, with "What You Need" and its remixes by the likes of Grum, DCUP and Hey Champ (all acts we've pined over a bit here at THE CULTURE OF ME), have created a dreamy pop instant classic, with swoon-worthy vocal lines and simplistic yet truly truly effective arrangements. The original is a funky love song filled with steadied measures and swirling organs bounding through the mix. The remixes, all of which you can totally picture in your head just by reciting the artist's name who took on the challenge, fit the bill nicely alongside the original, whether it's a smooth-lined electro of Grum or the bedroom-eyed version from Hey Champ. You can pick up the package (including one other remix) via Juno or Beatport now.
