World Premiere: Mr Vega – “Here They Come”

Feb 2, 2010

It's been nearly forever since last we'd heard from the one and only Mr Vega (ok, not really "nearly forever", our hyperbole is outlandish, sure) but that's all ending right now. Sure, maybe the six weeks since the last tracks to come from the uber-quick production mind hit the world in the face like a sledgehammer haven't really been too unlivable or terrifying but no worries, because today we bring to you for the first time "Here They Come"–both the first new song of his for 2010 and also one of the hardest we've heard him create. Now, again, we're using loaded terms here, as "hard" makes you think of a banger. But this is no such thing. It's jerky and really really on a "juke"-like progression with club "woo"s all over the place and all of this is great, but the realest shit happens almost as quickly–the arrangement slows down to a half-step. Then you get the sixty-second build and the payoff comes right at the apex of the climb and "Here They Come" shifts into a relentless beat-driven electro track that's pretty great, but to be honest, we've heard way better from Vega. But this is so early in 2010, so we're not the least bit worried. He churns out tunes almost obsessively so watch out in the next ten months for (we're guessing here) 20 more cuts.
