News: Photek tapped to do the first “DJ-Kicks” compilation for 2012
Not since around 2000ish and thereafter (and the release of “Solaris”) have we been this excited about the prospect of new work from the legendary drum ‘n’ bass, ambient and acid artist Photek. But to kick off the 2012 series of “DJ-Kicks” compilations—out April 3 on !K7 Records—Photek comes back with exclusive tracks of his own along with track selections from the likes of Hot Toddy, Sepalcure, DJG, and more.

You guys, Burial and Massive Attack, two of the brightest lights in electronically-avant music, have joined up for a super special and limited-edition single 12” pressing of “4 Walls” b/w “Paradise Circus”, released on heavyweight vinyl and housed in a stunning gold glitter screenprinted sleeve designed by Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja. Stream: Goldlines - “Pop That”
Interestingly abstract and meandering, this track that we were sent from a mysterious Londoner going by the moniker Goldlines called “Pop That” is a nice little swell of drums and effects, vocal samples and measure after measure of studio weirdness. It’s a bit found sound, a bit studio magic, and a lot of well-thought-out approaches.
