Emerging: Kodacrome

We haven’t done an “emerging” post in a while, and we’re sorry for that, but we had to bring it back today after listening a few times to the EP from Kodacrome, “Perla”. We’re absolutely enamored with vocalist Elissa Pociask (she also plays synths) and her delivery of whispery, yearning, reaching-out-for-something vocals, matching that with the arrangements that sweep from indie pop to 80s New Romanticism to mid-90s Garbage. We would cosign on anything these kids have in store in the future, and you should too.

Godspeed!

Emerging: Curxes

Brighton, UK duo Curxes (pronounced “curses”) are the lovely pair of Macaualay Hopwood and Roberta Fidora and they created dramatic and pleasing electronic indie pop that we haven’t been able to shake for the few days that we’ve known anything about the group. Hopwood wrote us and asked to be considered, and we’re super glad he did, because with songs like “Creatures”, “Jaws” and “Spires” (all available for streaming via Soundcloud), you’ll get an intense and cinematic feel to their synthetic pop music right away. And then, of course, you’ll be hooked.
