Major Lazer feat. Amber Coffman + YOUDONTSAY // download

Mad Decent label head/wiseguy Wes “Diplo” Pentz goes ahead and co-opts the newest of the new music from New Orleans, “bounce music” (made popular by Rusty Lazer and Big Freedia and everyone that is in that sphere) for “Express Yourself”, working with New Orleans native Nicky Da B. Another crucial song for 2012.

We talked about the electro pop of Big History some time ago with the unnervingly great “Wardrum”, so of course, now that they’re back with their second single—and it’s at least if not better in greatness as compared to single #1—we’re talking up “Wolfblood”, with its mixture of the ethereal and upbeat, all carried through with the lovely vocals of Meg Roussel.
Godspeed!

For the 2011 Halloween weekend (October 28, 29 and 30) in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Voodoo Experience festival will bring the likes of Soundgarden, Blink-182, The Raconteurs, Steve Angello, The Original Meters, Snoop Dogg, TV On The Radio, My Chemical Romance, Fatboy Slim, Girl Talk and a super large amount of other acts. Come nightfall, though, the eyes and ears will be run by the Verboten kids, who will be doing the official after parties for the festival, dubbed Deja Voodoo is Verboten, and at Republic and The Howlin’ Wolf venues, revelers will be joined by party starters and destroyers Cassy, Claude VonStroke, Craig Richards, Danny Howells, Deniz Kurtel, Lee Burridge, Maya Jane Coles, Soul Clap, Tanner Ross, Three, Voices of Black and Wolf+Lamb.
General admission three-night passes are available now for only $80 in total, and sets will run from 12midnight until 6am.
Godspeed!

Electro pop from New Orleans led by the smoky and sultry voice of one Meg Roussel, Big History are pretty amazing in context of how much Adele is really soaring these days, and while one opts for big pop productions and more soul than anything, one certainly makes her way toward the disco ball instead. Roussel’s band is one to watch in the coming days, and “Wardrum” is a nice entry point for them and for all listeners. Great work seems to have come easy, right off the bat for them.
